A Year Ago: 'I was not aware until recently.  I did not know this music existed and I am sad for the time I missed and simultaneously glad for being here now. I'm not going to provide details of this band.  If you are interested please go ahead and search for that information yourself.  If you care, it may bring a smile.   I love the music I have heard from this band so far. Literally, everything makes me smile and feel an uplifted kind f joy that I do not feel often with just music.  Normally there has to be some sort of memory already attached to a song but this album I've been listening to today is phenomenal.  'right out tha gate.' DECIDE. Such a great word.  Yes, there are innumerable possibilities in this world.  Possibilities of the life you could live, the path you could take to lead you, hopefully, to heights of success and happiness you can't even imagine.  But, the thing is, you have to decide.  You can't let yourself sit there and think so much.

A short history of Rebecca

I was born and raised in the Dominican Republic in the mid 1970's. My memories of growing up are a blur of laughter, palm trees and Christmas trips to Wisconsin. I was sixteen the summer we moved to Tampa, Florida and I remember being excited for the change until we arrived. Once we settled in for our first night, I found myself consumed with thoughts of everything and everyone I had lost. Fun with my friends and the daily visits to my Grandmother were over. I cried violently and promised myself I would go back and that I would allow no place in the world to matter as much to me as my homeland.
I visited Brazil in November 2014 and the beauty of the country and its people and the excitement of trying to quickly learn enough Portuguese to get around were intoxicating. I realized that in these moments that might make others uncomfortable, I felt completely in my element and I knew I needed to travel more. I knew I wanted to share my comfort and my view of the world with others.
Today I spend my free time observing my world, jotting down thoughts, feelings and ideas for stories and future trips. I've even been published at Matador, in English and Spanish. I post poems and thoughts wherever I can, including this blog and I'm working toward a bright future full of trips to beautiful places and conversations with beautiful people. Now if I could just get a job
it's fun to play with selfies and presets before bed.
